Got a couple new websites projects I’m working on. The first, FoodandDrink.info, will basically be an online drink recipe guide. I originally was going to do food also…but after a couple days this proved to be a lot more difficult. My goal is to add a few drink recipes everyday until there is a pretty substantial amount of content on there. Once there is a good amount of content, I plan to acquire a better suited domain name…specifically a .com name…and move everything to that site. In theory, any domain name can be made popular and highly ranked…but I’ve decided that .coms are the way to go.
My other new project is AnatolianLeopard.com. What the hell is an Anatolian Leopard and why did I make a site about it? Well, the Anatolian Leopard (I recently came to learn) is a Leopard from Turkey that is critically endangered and possibly extinct. The inspiration for the site came after reading a post on Elliot Silver’s Blog. Basically, the idea is to find an available category-defining domain name (in this case Anatolian Leopards) where this is not a lot of competing websites related to the category. Once you have found such a name, make a basic site, add some conent and see how long it takes to move up the rankings in the various search engines. The goal is to capitalize on a very small niche area. Are millions of people googling “Anatolian Leopard” every day? Certainly not. But some people are. So with a minimal investment of a registration fee and 4-5 hours to make the site….why not do a little experiment and see if I can get to the top? Now, it might take several months for it to happen. But say it does happen and in a few months my site is on the 1st page when people do a search. Suddenly, my site becomes a lot more valuable. Either way, it is a lot of fun working on the sites and hopefully they might become successful. Rock on!
